Grad School: Another Semester Beginning

My new semester starts February 4th, Monday. This will be my last Directed Studies class so I’ll need to get a lot of work done this semester. On top of my full-time job, I’m not sure how this is going to pan out. I need grace!

I’m looking forward to having a new instructor. I’m hoping he is a bit more understanding than the one I had last semester. What a terrible semester that was. I feel like my artwork is becoming much more cohesive but I know I have some “wild card” activity going on in most of them. I like that through. I really don’t enjoy an abstract show where the same elements are just swished around in different compositions. Hopefully the grad panel will feel the same way. It is difficult when doing your whole program online. I really have missed out on the necessary one-on-one time with classmates and instructors. It worked ok for my situation though. I would not want to move my family around now. My 12th grade and 9th grade daughters would not approve of that one bit!

So I may not be posting much. I keep a blog journal for class and that is usually behind as it is. It is also hard to not think just about work and painting when the semester is on. Always having that next assignment hanging over my head keeps my nose to the grindstone. Anyway, I hope to be conversing! Later.

  1. Good luck Kevin – I have done more than my fair share of online study whilst working full-time and it is no party. Well done you to be so near the end :) I really like your house series and agree with you that some ‘wild-card activity’ provides an added focus – that can be lost in a blur if the elements remain unchanged.
